Otter- Madra Uisce

10,00

I drew this Otter as a gift for a seaswimmer friend. Otters feature in mythology as magical and friendly companions to humans. I've only ever seen this elusive creature once or twice which kindof adds to the magic. Known as gaeilge as Madra Uisce, this agile and incredibly graceful animal was regarded as half fish, half dog in a lot of folklore. She was a companion to Lí Ban for Lough Neigh, who herself, turned into a mermaid when a well spung up in her home turning into a lake.

This Otter was drawn by hand, using fineliners and printed in my home studio on beautiful velvety fine art papers.
