Sappho-Boann

When I originally started this, I had one of my favourite paintings ever in mind. "Sappho" by Charles Auguste Mengin which hangs in Manchester. Sappho was a brooding greek poet frpm antiquity and is said to have thrown herself from a cliff from heartbreak. However, as I worked on the piece, she morphed into Boann, goddess of the Boyne, who also had a tragic ending, each woman passionately chasing something to the point of demise.
Printed in my home studio with archival pigment ink on beautiful, velvety, matt, heavy cotton rag/eco-hemp fine art papers.
