Leannán Sídhe is a folk creature who appears as a seductress to arists, poest and musicians, she is a muse. She feeds on adoration and ultimately cannot survive without the gaze and infatuation of the artist. In turn, she distracts the artist from his life to the point of madness. Its not the healthiest dynamic, but it does result in good art, music and poetry... so who am I to judge...

Leannán Sídhe was popularised in Ireland during the Celtic revival, presented as a creature of Tuatha de Dannán, but in truth , this muse like architype originated in Manx folklore. To me she is a Jungian architype, the anima, a projection of the unconscious feminine in a masculine psyche. Jung very wisely believed that the key to controlling your anima/animus is to recognize it when it manifests and to exercise your ability to discern it from reality.
